Taste of the Tide: Sharing Cultural Experiences from Around the World

Since 2015, The Tide® ministry has worked with a ministry partner in Thailand to share God’s Word among the Isaan people. The recording and production of an initial set of programs in the Isaan language, which is spoken by 19 million people in Thailand, has been completed and is currently being broadcast through a popular FM station in Thailand. This same gospel media content is also available through social media and other digital delivery methods.

It is with great urgency that we proclaim the Good News of Jesus in areas of the world like Thailand, as Buddhism is the most widespread religion found there. Theravada Buddhism, the oldest surviving branch of Buddhism, remains especially strong among the Isaan people of northeastern Thailand, where less than 2% of the population is Christian.

To help support the work in this area, we are excited to announce two upcoming Taste of The Tide events. Both events will feature an authentic Thai meal prepared by one of The Tide ‘boots on the ground’ team members, Kris G. Following the meal, guests will have the privilege of hearing about what God is doing through the ministry, and specifically in Thailand as she shares. You can choose from:

  • Souderton BIC on Saturday, June 1 from 6 – 8 pm ET. Click here to reserve your seat(s).
  • The Meeting House Carlisle on Friday, June 7 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm ET Click here to reserve your seat(s).

Using the Taste of the Tide events as a way for people to learn about our work around the globe, guests are able to experience a sense of what the culture and lifestyle are like in a specific area. Each event includes a meal of authentic food, music, and cultural experiences from a specific region, as ministry leaders share how God is at work through our ‘boots on the ground’ partners.

These events offer an opportunity for attendees to see, taste, hear, and feel what life is like for the people in that region, and how they can engage with our ministry to make a difference in the lives of the spiritually lost people there. They also allow us to continue communicating the Gospel message in local languages, as well as consider the regional customs; making Christ even more relatable to those who may not know His love, thus making our broadcasts even more effective.

As we continue to move forward with this project in Thailand, pray that God will direct us to the most effective methods of making these programs publicly available to Isaan listeners. This outreach greatly assists the work of our partner agency who works tirelessly to make disciples and plant house churches among the Isaan people.
