Flooding Virtual Streets with Effective Prayer for Real People and Places

What if every street in your city was filled, not with traffic, but with people . . . people praying for the things they see around them: the businesses, homes, places of worship, the everyday situations people find themselves facing, both good and bad. Now imagine that same flood of prayer, but this time it is reaching places around the world with limited access to the Gospel.

That vision is at the heart of The Tide Race to Share the Gospel Around the World. Each Spring, an in-person 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run are held alongside a 16-Day Virtual Challenge. It is with great excitement that we announce that our Virtual Challenge event is now open year-round for those who want to make a difference anytime, from anywhere.

How It Works

In many parts of the world, gathering in the streets for prayer isn’t possible, especially in some of the areas of the world where The Tide ministry works. However, participants can virtually unite in prayer as they move along a 13-mile virtual race path at their own pace. Each mile that is entered on their race page will unlock Milestone Markers with prayer suggestions for real people and places. As participants walk, run, or bike, they pray for the communities in the country of focus, for our ‘boots on the ground’ ministry partners, and for those who have not yet heard about the hope of Jesus.

God at Work in the Milestones

The Milestone Markers remind us of God’s guidance in every aspect of planning, including the creation of the race path. Over the years, we’ve seen powerful outcomes:

  • 2022: Just days before the event began, a suicide bomber struck one of the prayer locations, making our intercession even more urgent.
  • 2024: A local bank branch chosen as a Milestone Marker location turned out to be the banking institution serving one of our “boots on the ground” pastors.
  • 2025: Two prayer locations where our ministry partners are actively carrying out Gospel work were purposely chosen. When these locations were included, the race path’s outline amazingly resembled the shape of Cameroon!

These moments remind us that prayer is important, and that God cares about the details.

Lasting Global Impact

Since its launch in 2022, the Tide Race has raised awareness and funds for regions with limited access to the Gospel, including Afghanistan, the Middle East, the Balkan Region, and Cameroon.

Together, participants have helped raise nearly $50,000 over four years, and individuals and groups have offered countless prayers.

This year alone, more than $11,300 was donated, which:

    • Fully covered one year of radio airtime in Cameroon
    • Helped fund the first of three wells requested by our partners
  • Started the collection of funds that will later be used toward the purchase of the first of the requested motorcycles and church building structures

Join the Movement

Prayer changes people and you can be part of that change! Your participation in The Tide Race to Share the Gospel Virtual Challenge not only covers the focus area in prayer but virtually connects you with our ‘boots on the ground’ partners as they share the Good News of Jeus, bringing hope to the world.

Are you ready to take the challenge?

The Cameroon Virtual Challenge event is open through the end of 2025. This year’s funds will help support special projects in the northern, southern, and western areas of the country. These projects include church building shelters, motorcycles, and wells

But don’t Race to Share the Gospel Around the World alone! Invite your church, small group, or friends to join. Some groups even plan prayer walks together to pray for their own communities while also praying through the Milestone Markers. A different Race location will open in January, so don’t miss the opportunity to participate in Cameroon.
