Twenty-six!

Twenty-six!

That is how many bones you have in each foot. Together, your two feet make up about twenty-five percent of the bones in your body. In addition to all of those bones, you have lots of joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscles. Feet allow you to stand, balance, walk, run, jump, and bear the weight of your body. What they do is no small feat.

When was the last time you thought about your feet? It might have been when they were hurting from a long day at work. Maybe it was after stepping on that one little Lego that your child or grandchild didn’t get put away. It could be that you haven’t thought about them much because you think they are ugly. But your feet are beautiful! At least, they can be. The Apostle Paul tells us, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things! (Romans 10:14-15 NASB).

When those weight-bearing, momentum-propelling, tired, achy, smelly feet carry the Gospel, they become things of beauty. What better news is there that in spite of our sins and shortcomings, God loves us deeply and unconditionally?! Jesus said that there is no greater love than for someone to lay down their life for their friends (John 15:13). And then He laid down His life for us. He also rose again. In Him there is forgiveness, reconciliation, and new life. Feet that bring that Good News can only be described as beautiful.

Wouldn’t you like to have your feet be described as beautiful? You can help carry the love of Jesus to those around the world. Just clean out your closet and donate your new and gently used shoes through The Tide Your Soles ~Their Souls shoe drive.

Through strategic partnerships, your shoes help share God’s Word around the world. That is a beautiful thing and so are your feet when you participate. You can read more about the statistics, the need for footwear around the world, and how the shoe drive works by reading previous blog posts at the bottom of this one.

To join in this year’s Your Soles ~Their Souls you will have to move quickly. March 31st marks the end of this year’s shoe drive. Check your closet, call on your neighbors, and ask your friends for new and gently used shoes. Share about the need for shoes around the world. Who knows? Maybe you will get a chance to share with someone how much God loves them. Imagine how beautiful your feet will be.
