The Tide® Ministry Calls for Christians to Pray for Those Looking for Hope in Afghanistan

As people around the world continue responding in shock and dismay at the latest news coming from Afghanistan about the devastating 5.9 level earthquake last week, we here at The Tide® world headquarters are encouraging Christians to turn to the Lord in prayer, particularly for followers of Jesus trapped in the war-torn country. The catastrophic earthquake came less than a year after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, forcing tens of thousands of people to flee.

Director, Don Shenk, stated, “It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the tragedies going on across the world, but we as Christians know that God has a plan and a purpose for this situation. While the crisis seems extreme, nothing is impossible for God. We need to be on our knees praying for our fellow believers.”

We believe it is a testament to God’s divine purpose and planning that we just recently started broadcasting the Gospel into Afghanistan. Currently, we utilize the Dari and Pashto languages, the local dialects of the area, to teach the people about Christ in their own vernacular.

“God knew that this current crisis would happen, and it was part of His divine plan to have The Tide ministry on the ground, supporting the believers and sharing the Good News through the radio,” Shenk commented. “In an environment of increased danger, where meeting and worshipping together is risky, radio may be the only source of nurture and encouragement for their faith. When everything seems so uncertain, believers in Christ can stand on the hope and promises of God that He has a plan and a purpose for everything.”
