The Tide® Gospel Radio shares the hope of Christ in ‘heart languages’ in India

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.— There is a global thirst for knowledge of Christ all around the globe. Places full of darkness that have never heard of the light of Christ are seeking the truth of the Gospel like never before. However, it is difficult to discover God’s word if it isn’t told in a language people can understand.

This is where The Tide® (www.TheTide.org) ministry comes in.

Celebrating over 75 years of service for Christ, The Tide® ministry has made it their mission to spread the Gospel to people through radio broadcasts all around the world, all spoken in “heart languages” or the local languages of a given area. The Tide® ministry shares the Gospel daily in over 20 different languages on three continents, reaching millions of people including those in Afghanistan, Albania, Bhutan, India, Kosovo, Mozambique, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand, and Zimbabwe.

The Tide® Director Don Shenk stated, “Using people’s heart languages is a key component of what we do here at The Tide® ministry. It allows people who have never heard the Gospel make a stronger and more intimate connection with Christ because they can understand the message on a more personal level.”

In India, there are 12 different radio programs in 11 different languages, all designed to reach those in the region who have not yet heard the Good News. By offering so many language options, The Tide® ministry hopes to widen their reach of people tuning in to hear about Christ. In addition to the radio broadcasts, The Tide® ministry gives listeners the option to write in and ask for brochures and pamphlets that give more information about Christ and salvation, also in the heart languages of a local area.

One listener wrote in, “Your radio program is very interesting and heart touching. Whenever I get time to listen to it very attentively and receive spiritual nourishment, I have peace, rest and joy in my heart. The Lord is helping me in my daily life. I am very thankful to you for sharing the Good News through radio in our own language Bengali. Please send me some books either in Hindi or Bengali language.”

Shenk concluded, “The fact is that we have a global God — if we are to share the truth about God around the world, we need to utilize the best methods of doing so, such as sharing the message in heart languages.”

Saved From the Deep Waters

Samsarpur is a humble village on the banks of the Birupa River in India’s Odisha Province. Many people, including Ishan, rely on the river for bathing. Ishan is a believer in the Lord who had not been walking as closely with the Lord recently as he had been.
