Sharing the Hope of the Gospel Amidst War and Conflict in Iran

March 16, 2026

What is your favorite word in the English language?

An elementary student in an overseas school asked this of his American teacher. The teacher had never given much thought to it and asked for a day to consider it before getting back to the student. That evening, the teacher pondered as many words as he could recall. But none of them resonated enough to qualify as his favorite word. After some time, his heart was drawn to three words from 1 Corinthians 13:13. They were the three that the Apostle Paul says remain: faith, hope, and love. The next day, the teacher shared what he chose as his favorite word. It was hope! Soon after, the student brought the teacher a sticky note, handed it to him, and left. As the teacher glanced down at the note, his eyes began to tear up. On the note were eight pieces of tape with the word “hope” written on them.

It seems the student knew how important it is to have hope. As followers of Christ, we also know how important hope is.

Amidst the conflict currently taking place in the Middle East with Iran, there is hope. But hope will not be found in a change of political leadership. Governing entities come and go in the region as they have for millennia. No leadership has, or will, ever solve their greatest problem or satisfy their greatest need. It is the problem of sinning against a holy God and needing the relationship with Him reconciled.

True hope is only found in Jesus Christ, our Savior (Romans 5:10). While we have struggles and hardships that are very real, we do not walk through them alone or forever (Matthew 28:20, Psalm 30:5). John tells us that what awaits those who believe is a place free from death, mourning, crying, and pain. It is an eternity with God (Revelation 21:1-4). Believers have God’s presence now and a future in Heaven.

Since 1946, when The Tide began as a local radio ministry, it has been broadcasting the same message: There is hope in Jesus. So, as you interact with news stories and hear of strife and conflict around the world, we want to encourage you to join us in broadcasting hope.

Here are some ways you can be involved.

Pray

Pray for believers throughout the Middle East and for our partners in the neighboring countries of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Ask God to protect and strengthen believers and ask that those who have yet to believe will hear the Gospel and turn to Jesus.

Give

Give as the Lord leads you in helping to support and extend local language broadcasts and partnerships around the world.
