C. is a young woman from a small village in the southern tip of Odisha Province in India. For a long time, she suffered from severe mental illness and was described by her family as having gone crazy. Her family sought treatment from medical doctors and witchcraft alike, but her condition remained the same. There were days when she had to be tied to a tree, in order to control her behavior.
Does this remind you of something from the Scriptures? The chains that had bound C to the tree are not unlike the chains which bound the demon possessed man from the Gerasenes region (Mark 5). But the same Lord who delivered that man is still at work today, in India and across the world.
One day, C’s father brought her to a Christian fellowship for prayer. C. was not willing to even wear clothes as the fellowship prayed over her with tears. S, one of the men in the fellowship who prayed over her, shared with us that “God heard our heart’s cry and answered our prayer. She is completely normal now.”
These are not isolated accounts from the field. Further north in Odisha lives a small baby, Joy, who was crying incessantly. While it is not unusual for any infant to cry, her behavior was not normal and her parents, similar to C’s parents, tried visiting temples and sought black magic to calm their baby. But these efforts were not successful.
Disappointed and seeking answers and healing, Joy’s parents brought her to a local church. As M, a member of the church who prayed over Joy, testifies to us, “The Lord heard our prayer and Joy stopped crying abnormally. May the name of God be glorified!”
We are grateful for these testimonies of healing. The Lord continues to do a mighty work and we are privileged to be witness!
