God at Work Through ‘Have You Heard? Challenge’

“Have you heard?” . . . one simple question that can change someone’s life forever; and while most Christians would agree it is important to share their faith with others, for many it is an intimidating undertaking. If this describes you, here is a testimony from The Tide Mobilization and Engagement Coordinator to help inspire you.

“I felt like I needed to sign up for the HYH? Challenge, as it would be my responsibility to encourage participants in their journey to share their faith in Jesus with at least 10 people over the next 12 months. To be perfectly honest, I was a little apprehensive. However, I knew I could not effectively lead others in the challenge without participating in it myself. Don’t get me wrong, I am perfectly comfortable talking about God all day long with people, and most of the time find myself talking about Him as if everyone around me has a relationship with Him. So why the feeling? Could it be the enemy putting doubts in my mind? Was it perhaps that I didn’t want to be held accountable to share? I wasn’t quite certain, but I did know that God was speaking to my heart, and I knew I needed to trust He would take care of the rest.

Within days of signing up, God began opening doors to share. The first came in the form of a young lady at a checkout counter who asked me what I do for work. After silently thanking God for opening the door to share and asking Him for wisdom and boldness, I told her I work for The Tide ministry. She asked what The Tide was and what I do in my job. I then proceeded to tell her we are an international media ministry who shares the Good News of Jesus worldwide, as well as some of the things I do in my job. I continued, telling her that the best part of my job is getting to help others hear, and learn, that Jesus loves them. I asked if she had a belief. She told me she is trying not to, as her boyfriend does not believe in anything and does not want her to believe in anything either. I explained it is more important to please God than man, and that she should make her own decision and not base it on what someone else wants her to believe. Before I left, I told her that Jesus loves her and that I would be praying for her to find Truth.

Although I have not been able to chat with her since, my prayer is that she will encounter other believers who will share about Jesus’ love for her and, that through it, she will accept Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. I am grateful for this opportunity, and for two others, since signing up for the challenge. God is good, He is faithful, and I know that He will be right there with me every step of the way to intentionally share His love with others who have no hope of eternity without Him.”

It is our desire to not only reach areas of the world with limited access to the Gospel, but to also make a difference right where each of our supporters are, no matter where they reside. That is why we are extending an open invitation to join us in the HYH? Challenge. Together we can make a difference in our own communities! Will you join today?
