A listener from Zimbabwe recently shared the following via WhatsApp after tuning into our radio program:
Thank you, brother, for the good work you are doing as Amagugu Evangeli alongside pastors. I am being helped tremendously by the Word you teach on your Brethren in Christ Church (BICC) platforms. I am now in a better space in my faith as well as in knowing what is happening in BICC. My only challenge is money to purchase data to access social media platforms like YouTube. Thank you, Mr. Nyoni, May God bless you.
With a per-capita GDP of USD 2,156 in 2023, Zimbabwe ranks in the lower half of African countries, but is by no means at the bottom. Feedback and responses we receive like this one remind us of the ongoing reality that, for millions of people in sub-Saharan Africa (and elsewhere), Internet access is not a given. In fact, what is a part of everyday life for us could be seen as a luxury.
The Lord’s famous Sermon on the Mount pronounces a blessing on the poor in spirit, that theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Mt. 5:3). To be poor in spirit is to be spiritually humble, acknowledging one’s need for God.
Perhaps a little less well known is the Lord’s blessing on the poor itself in Luke 6: And He raised His eyes toward His disciples and began saying, “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God” (Lk. 6:21).
It is clear that not only are the spiritually humble blessed, but also those who are physically poor. Our physical suffering touches the heart of God. It grieves Him and moves Him to open our hearts to receive the Son.
The impact of your giving is magnified in countries like Zimbabwe where there is a low cost of living. For example, the amount needed to set up a broadcasting studio is significantly less than what it would be in the west. We thank you for your generosity which allows the gospel to be broadcast to millions.
Our partners note that despite the advent of social media and other modern forms of communication, the humble radio remains the most accessible form of communication for the people of Zimbabwe. Various ministries, including ours, are engaging policy-makers in the process of obtaining specific religious radio broadcasting licenses, which would enhance the prevalence of Christian gospel messages on the air in Zimbabwe.
Please pray for even more open doors through which we can advance the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth!
