Dining in the Dark

June 8, 2026

In a bustling city in Thailand, there is an interesting, themed restaurant. Meals are served and consumed completely in the dark, pitch dark. Served by visually impaired persons, patrons are led through their dining experience unaware of the specifics of their meal. They rely on their guide to know when, where, and what their meal is. In the darkness, guides are given opportunities for employment, and patrons are given a unique dinner.

The experience of dining in the dark is intriguing. But the experience of being in spiritual darkness is tragic. Such is the case for over seventy million people in Thailand. They are people who are precious in God’s sight. Though they don’t know Him, they are known by Him. He loves them as He loves you. Yet the majority have not heard the powerful message of how He has demonstrated His love for them. They are in spiritual darkness because they have not come into a personal relationship with the Light of the World. That is, of course, Jesus Christ.

Since 2015, The Tide Ministry has sought to guide people to the light of Jesus. The ministry does this by working with a ministry partner to facilitate the recording and production of a variety of Christian programs in the Isaan region.  Produced in the Isaan language, these messages of hope are broadcast through several popular FM Stations.

The Christian programs are more than mere background sounds as people go throughout their day. They are a dinner invitation. An invitation to come, dine in the light. The twenty million potential listeners are invited to dine with Jesus. Rather than a meal that leaves them hungry later. Jesus said that He is the bread of life. Whoever comes to Him will not hunger. The one who believes in Him will not thirst (John 6:35).

The Tide ministry wants as many people in Thailand to accept that invitation. This is why events such as the annual Race to Share the Gospel Virtual Challenge exist. This year’s challenge offers an opportunity for donors, supporters, athletes, non-athletes, families, mall walkers, and just about anyone else to help fund the expansion of the Gospel invitation in Thailand.

Please check out the Race to Share the Gospel Virtual Challenge page to learn more about how you can participate. You may also choose to donate directly to the Thailand Ministry by clicking here.

Either way, we hope that you will join us in helping lead people to the light of Jesus, where they will experience an abundant life now and an eternity in Heaven.
