We recently received a pair of salvation testimonies from Thailand which are best described as twins – just about identical on the outside, yet different on the inside. Two gentleman named Paw, both age 72, both with health problems, who lived about 3 miles from each other, called into our Isaan Radio Broadcast within 1 day of each other. Yet their stories could not be more different.
Paw #1 had only listened to our program three times before calling. He was very interested as he had never heard the gospel message before. He was impressed with the testimonies of how God helped people. He had a stroke several years ago and has weakness on one side of his body. He moved earlier this year to live with his brother and sister-in-law. When our team led him to pray to accept Jesus, he saw a vision of God coming down to him with his arms open wide. Paw was deeply touched because he knows that he is a sinner. He sat weeping for quite a while as he saw this vision and said that he felt such warmth and love.
Paw #2 has had quite a different journey. He had been listening to our program for a long time. He lives alone and must go for kidney dialysis 3 times per week (though he often only goes twice a week because he doesn’t have enough money for transportation). He reached a point of hopelessness at one point and wanted to call into our radio program. But, for more than 10 days he could not get the number recorded. Each time, something specifically prevented him from doing so – for example, on one occasion, he did not have a pen, and on another, he did not have a piece of paper.
Discouraged, Paw decided to commit suicide. He hung a rope from the rafter and had a chair to stand on to hang himself. He kept trying to kick the chair out from under himself, but he wasn’t successful. His dogs were barking like crazy. He finally decided to come down from the chair to take care of the dogs. That day, he listened to the Life’s Answers program and was able to record the phone number. He called and a staff member answered. Paw accepted Christ and cut off the spirit of suicide.
Since their calls, our team has been able to visit both gentlemen, provide some practical assistance to Paw #2, and help plug both into local fellowships that are connected to staff members. Both are attending regularly.
Praise God that He is at work everywhere, all the time! He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together (Colossians 1:17).
