There is a global thirst for knowledge of Christ all around the globe. Places full of darkness that have never heard of the light of Christ are seeking the truth of the Gospel like never before. However, it is difficult to discover God’s word if it isn’t told in a language people can understand. This is what God has called us to do through The Tide ministry. It is our mission to spread the Gospel to people through radio broadcasts all around the world, all spoken in “heart languages” or the local languages of a given area. We are blessed to be a part of God’s work as our ‘boots on the ground’ partners share the love of Christ daily in dozens of languages in over 20 countries, including India.
Using people’s heart languages is a key component of the ministry. This allows people who have never heard the Gospel make a stronger and more intimate connection with Christ because they can understand the message on a more personal level.
In India there are 13 different radio programs in 12 different languages, all designed to reach those in the
region who have not yet heard the Good News. By offering so many language options, we hope to widen the possibility of reaching the people tuning in to hear about Christ. In addition to the radio broadcasts, we give listeners the option to write in and ask for brochures and pamphlets that give more information about Christ and salvation, also in the heart languages of a local area.
One listener wrote and stated, “I am a college student, but I have been regularly listening to your Bengali radio broadcast. It is a very good radio program. Earlier I had the idea that all religions are same, but now I have come to know that Jesus Christ is the only God who can save me from my sins. I am ready to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. Please pray for me to take that step.”
Regarding the language programs, Don Shenk, Director of The Tide ministry stated, “The fact is that we have a global God — if we are to share the truth about God around the world, we need to utilize the best methods of doing so, such as sharing the message in heart languages.”
