New TV and Video Programs for Albanian Audiences Eases Pandemic Isolation

The Tide® ministry, which broadcasts the Gospel message in 27 languages in nine countries using local languages they refer to as ‘heart languages,’ continues its life-altering ministry through radio and TV broadcasts in Albania. They spread Christ’s hope and wisdom, reaching not only those who already put their faith and trust in Jesus but also those who may be far from Christ or not yet introduced to His love and grace.

“The Tide ministry has been honored to share the Gospel in Albania for the past five years, first over radio airwaves in partnership with Radio 7, then through media players, live-streaming, and, most recently, through a television program geared toward young people,” said Director Don Shenk.

With more than 100,000 views on YouTube, The Tide Ministry’s popular series of TV programs for young people, “Time to Talk,” has gone viral, drawing new audiences as word spreads with the increased use of social media during the pandemic.

This has brought comfort to audiences during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and its ensuing isolation; viewer response has been overwhelming. In addition to comfort, ‘Time to Talk’ has brought great wisdom, hope, and healing during the isolation and tense moments that can arise when living in such close quarters with family members for long periods of time.

“The pandemic situation made us spend much more time online, connected through the internet with one another,” said one young adult from Shkoder. “I’ve been watching almost the whole series of the ‘Time to Talk’ TV program. Hearing from the other guests on the program and their experiences has helped me a lot. Since I began watching the program, I have begun to practice at home the advice from the Bible. My change, and intentional acts of kindness and love, really changed for good the relationship with my parents. We are understanding one another better. Thank you all.”

Don Shenk, reflects on the ministry’s tangible impact in people’s lives.“Viewers gain a sense of community, which helps ease the isolation brought by the pandemic,” Shenk said.It is edifying to hear from viewers who are touched by the content of the programs, from Christians as well as those who are not yet Christian but are open to hearing the Gospel message. It is amazing when we hear from unbelievers that they have been uplifted or are now putting their faith in Christ after listening to a Tide partner pastor.”

Although geared toward young adults, the popular TV show draws viewers of all ages. One viewer from Durres, says, “I love your very interesting themes on ‘Time to Talk.’ You are promoting Christian values and helping our precious young people know God and walk in His ways. I love that the program is very relevant for the times we are living. Many of us felt like “fish without water” during the isolation because of Covid-19. I had so many questions and God provided the answers through the TV show. Thank you and God bless.”
