For more than seven decades, we witness how gospel radio programs have impacted many people’s lives around the world. And many villagers, such as those living in India, have provided powerful feedback about The Tide programs.
“One person in India shared that nearly 20 people in his village regularly listen to the ‘Shanti Data’ radio program from The Tide ministry,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “Among them, 12 attended a Seekers Meeting and were blessed with knowing more about Jesus Christ. Even an idol worshipper turned to Jesus after hearing our radio program. A month later, the former idol worshipper and his wife were baptized. Stories like these inspire us every day and illustrate the power of God’s Word right before our very eyes!”
New believers in India, however, face significant hardships when they turn from their old ways and begin to follow Jesus. According to a recent report in The Christian Post, new Christians in India endure immense pressure from radicals who beat them for refusing to worship Hindu gods. Open Doors USA has been sharing stories of those persecuted for their faith in India, where converting people to Christianity is illegal in five states.
Throughout 40 years in India, The Tide’s ministry there has expanded to include discipleship activities such as literature distribution, Bible correspondence courses and a radio distribution project called “Radios for India.” This combination of ministry elements has proven to be extremely effective in changing lives throughout India and planting churches where believers can be nurtured in their faith and through which whole communities can be drawn into the Kingdom of God.
Now, The Tide ministry is embarking on a new initiative to allow Christians to spread the Word of God through its “Every Knee Every Tongue” project, which gives people a chance to proclaim the Gospel message—not just locally, but around the world. Through “Every Knee Every Tongue,” all are welcome to sponsor additional Christian radio broadcasts produced by The Tide ministry in both populated and remote communities around the world. Rooted in Romans 14:11, “Every Knee Every Tongue” raises the question: How will every knee bow and every tongue proclaim praise to God if we don’t share what Jesus has done with others?
Currently, The Tide ministry reaches people in seven countries on three continents through radio programming in 24 heart languages. Nearly a quarter of the world’s population lives within the current range of our radio programming, and with nearly 7,000 languages spoken in the world today, the opportunities are tremendous for people to hear the Word of God.
