The Tide® Ministry Encourages Large-Scale Growth in Zimbabwe

Celebrating 75 years of service for Christ, The Tide® ministry continues our mission of spreading the hope of Christ worldwide by telling the truth of the Gospel to people through radio broadcasts all around the world, all spoken in the heart languages people were born to speak. We share the Gospel daily in over 30 different languages in 39 countries on three continents, reaching millions of people including those in Afghanistan, Albania, Bhutan, India, Kosovo, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, and Zimbabwe.

We have been evangelizing to Zimbabwe since 1983, and the Ndebele language radio program called ‘Amagugu Evangeli’ continues to make great strides. Many Zimbabweans identify as Christian, but many still participate in traditional African religious practices including ancestral spirit worship and witchcraft. Even though Zimbabwe has been fairly extensively evangelized there are still many who need to hear the Gospel message, and others who are hungry to learn more about Jesus Christ.

Even as we celebrate our longevity in Zimbabwe, we are already planning for more growth in the next ten years. We have some short-term goals such as hiring new staff or publishing a magazine, but also have some bigger goals, such as buying a vehicle to visit listeners or even owning our own television station.

Don Shenk, director of The Tide® ministry, stated, “We are excited and encouraged to see our global partners embracing our vision and seeking God’s guidance in how to fulfill that vision in the context of their own ministry structures and goals.  Some of the goals that ‘Amagugu Evangeli’ is aiming towards over the next ten years may seem very ambitious, but anything that God has inspired is achievable through faith and cooperative participation between His adopted children who have significant resources and those who have great need.”
