Singer, Songwriter Frances Drost’s Powerful Song for The Tide® Ministry Reminds Americans of Those in Need Around the World

One of the most moving ways the Gospel has been shared through The Tide® ministry has been by award-winning singer and songwriter, Frances Drost, a dear friend of the ministry.

Drost’s powerful song set to video for The Tide® ministry, “She Was Born in Africa,” can be found on our YouTube channel. The images of beautiful African people who might not know Christ and live in spiritual and physical poverty reveal the need for God and His Word. We have been helping to reach these populations around the world for over 75 years through radio broadcasts in 39 countries.

Drost’s song sums up the beautiful and godly work of The Tide work:

She was born in Africa…Never heard of Jesus’ love.

Poverty and draught is all she’s known before.

And she can’t get to Jesus, and He can’t get to her.

Like the land is separated from the sea.

There’s a tide rolling in, flowing across the land bringing life to every heart who believes and enters in.

There is healing for the nations in the wake of God’s love.

There’s a tide rolling in across the land.

You and I may never go to lands across the sea.

Take a look around you now, there’s plenty here in need.

There’s a tide rolling in, flowing across the land bringing life to every heart who believes and enters in.

There is healing for the nations in the wake of God’s love.

There’s a tide rolling in across the land.

She was born in Africa…Never heard of Jesus’ love.

Drost has shared the stage with many women such as Carol Kent, Ruth Graham, and Kay Arthur. She has served over 16 years on staff as the Director of Worship at various churches, and she is also a songwriter for Songs Of Love—a nonprofit organization that connects songwriters with terminally ill children. She has composed and recorded hundreds of songs for the families with their child as the star of the song. Her accomplishments are numerous and her impact has changed lives worldwide.

Without organizations such as The Tide ministry, a global missional outreach that shares the Gospel daily through radio broadcasts in over 30 different languages in 39 countries on three continents, the clear reminder of the urgency of the mission to spread the Good News to all corners of the world becomes lost. As Americans approach the Western Christmas season and all that is done to make it meaningful, those who don’t know the Christmas story in other parts of the world are forgotten.

“It’s so easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season,” said Director Don Shenk. “We thank Frances Drost for her powerful song for us who live in this bountiful country to reflect on what really matters in life. This Christmas season should be a reminder of not only the birth of Christ, but the reason that He came—to save the lost. We at The Tide ministry are determined to share the Good News to all corners of the globe in hopes to fulfill the Great Commission and ‘make disciples of all nations.’”
