Radio Listeners in India Testify About Life Change Through Christ

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.—Even in a country that is dominated by Hindu beliefs, God has the power to reach people with the truth of His Son, Jesus.

Since 1978, The Tide® (www.thetide.org) global radio ministry has had a presence in India, today offering Gospel radio programming in eight Indian languages. For those whose lives are changed by Christ, the results are immeasurable.

“Even though new believers in India are about 8,000 miles away from The Tide ministry’s U.S. headquarters in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, we are united because of our common love and trust in Jesus,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “It is wonderful to hear from our brothers and sisters in Christ who have experienced true life change, and we are thankful that The Tide radio programs broadcast in their own languages have played a small part in that eternal impact.”

Rabindra is a listener to The Tide ministry’s Odia language broadcast called “Shanti Data” in Odisha state.

“Your program has increased my knowledge about Jesus Christ, and also I have accepted Him as my Lord and Savior,” he said.

Likewise, Kabi hears the Gospel in his Kui language by listening to the program, ‘Ehpa Gatanju,’ every Saturday evening.

“There has been a transformation in my life, as I have left all bad things behind,” he said. “The love of God has touched my heart and I have become a child of God.”

Ashish is a Hindu listener to The Tide ministry’s Kurukh language broadcast titled, “Ujjna Gahi Dahare.”

“I have been listening to your radio (program for) several years,” he said. “When I started to listen to God’s message on the radio, I could realize the real love of God, and also I was able to learn many good things from this program. Now I have started believing in Jesus Christ and also praying to Him.”

For more than seven decades, The Tide ministry has recorded and broadcasted Gospel programming in eight countries on three continents in 25 heart languages spoken by millions of people in multiple regions of Albania, Bhutan, India, Kosovo, Nepal, Nigeria, Thailand and Zimbabwe. With more than 7,000 languages spoken worldwide and more than 2,000 people groups that have been unreached by the Good News of Jesus, the opportunities are tremendous.
